We appreciate the KYTC showing some our hard-working folks who are in Eastern KY helping repair bridges damaged from the flooding that took place earlier this summer. Several of those employees have been onsite helping restore access to those who lost bridges since early August.
Repairing bridges and building diversions (temporary crossings) has been a top priority for KYTC since the catastrophic flooding in Eastern Kentucky. Bridges are connectors, and in areas like Eastern Kentucky where a bridge is often the only way in and out for a community, they are essential. To date, KYTC has inspected more than 1,000 bridges and identified 100 in need of repair or replacement. Crews have also built over 50 diversions, establishing temporary access until permanent bridges can be built. #TeamKentucky #KYTCExtraMile
