Rock Lick Deck Pour
Crews were hard at work pouring the bridge deck for the Rock Lick Creek bridge in Russell County. This pour was completed shortly after midnight so crews were able to beat the heat and able to keep concrete temperatures within specification. We would like to thank our crews for their hard work and dedication to get this completed, and also a shout out to Concrete Pump Partners who is always a pleasure to work with.
1812 Beam Setting
Summer is in full swing, and the crews are “Burning” through the next bridge along what will be the newly constructed Eastbound lanes of The Mountain Parkway in Wolfe Co. Take a look at the most recent Beam setting as we utilize a Manitowoc 777 crane to set these beams above KY 1812. We would like to give a special thanks to the crew and Prestress Services for a job well done!!
CSL Testing
The tubes on the outside of the rebar cages you see in these pictures are called CSL Tubes and are used for CSL Testing drilled shafts (Caissons). Cross-Hole Sonic Logging (CSL) Testing produces results that tell us the quality of the concrete placed in the drilled shafts. The CSL test measures the time for an ultrasonic pulse to travel from a signal source in one access tube to a receiver in another access tube. In uniform, good quality concrete, the travel time between equi-distant sets of tubes will be relatively constant. Poor results, which consist of various factors, can indicate poor-quality concrete, voids, honeycombs, and soil intrusions. The signal will be completely lost by the receiver and CSL recording system for more severe defects such as voids and intrusions.
Working with Foundation Test Group for all of our deep foundation testing is always a pleasure!
Cumberland River
As you can see from the video the abutment is complete on the West side of the river and the Hayes Drilling crew has made it to the East side of the Cumberland River on our Russell County project. Soon to follow will be column & pier cap construction!!
