Traffic Control
According to the National Safety Council, through an analysis of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash data, nearly 30% of all fatal crashes in 2021 were speeding-related. In work zones for roadway construction, maintenance, or utility work, these fatalities have increased 63% since 2010. Slowing down to the posted speed limits in a work zone greatly reduces the chances of a catastrophic accident for not only yourself, but the workers present in the work zone as well.
At Haydon Bridge, we train and certify leaders as Work Zone Traffic Control Technicians and/or Work Zone Traffic Control Supervisors. This not only helps us comply with state and federal traffic control regulations, but also helps us set up work zones that are safer for our employees and the traveling public. These trainings and certifications educate leaders on the different types of traffic control devices and how they should be implemented to be most effective.
No matter how well implemented the traffic control plan is for a work zone, it’s useless without the help of the traveling public. When you enter a work zone, slow down to the posted limits and pay close attention to your surroundings. We have families too, and we need your help to safely go home to them each night. Work zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever.

Project Update: Washington County, KY
The next phase of our bridge widening project on KY 555 is to set the girders and pour the new deck, but before we do that, we must remove the existing concrete barrier wall. This involves a series of longitudinal and vertical saw cuts before we begin packing the barrier wall off the bridge. A big thanks to our friends over at Concrete Coring Company for coming in and knocking this phase of the project out!
